About Us

Dennis and I fell in love with Beach Rise from the moment we set eyes on it from down below on the beach in the summer of 2020.

It's location, looking across Morecambe Bay towards Grange-over-Sands seemed to us to be unrivalled and the steps down from the garden to the beach were a dream come true. The possibility of getting up in the morning and taking our dogs straight down to the shore was something we had been seeking to fulfil for quite a long time.

Since getting the keys in September that year and after much thought, we altered the house to suit our purposes. A tremendous amount of renovations were needed, but this lovely 1930s house now fits our needs and the needs of our guests. 

It has been a lot of work, but it has been fun seeing the house take shape and choosing all the wallpapers and fabrics to create a holiday home fit for its seaside location with a bright and cheeerful interior.

Our home is in Richmond - the original one! Here we both work, enjoying the historic, beautiful surroudings of this North Yorkshire market town. We also have a holiday home to let that is next door to us in our 18th century walled garden, which takes quite a lot of our spare time.

Our Golden Retriever and Labradoodle love our garden & all the local walks. We enjoy walks in the dales, the cinema & theatre as well as time with family and friends, and we love living in Richmond!

Equally we love coming to Beach Rise and we have dog-proofed the house so far as possible to allow them maximum fun on the beach, without bringing all that sea, sand and mud back into the kitchen and other rooms!

As well as the shore, we have discovered Eaves Wood on the edge of the village. Here multiple paths meander through this beautiful woodland, some leading to the Victorian 'pepperpot' at the top of the hill. Silverdale is also home to the RSPB Leighton Moss Nature Reserve.

Our covered, extenal access to the utility room gives paws and boots a chance to be cleaned and taken off (the boots, not the paws!) before enetering the house.

We think you will love Beach Rise as much as we do. We can never get enough of those amazing sunsets or the ever changing views of the sky and across the bay to Grange-over-Sands.
